Dushant aspires to become a successful singer but is hit hard for money. Jaya helps Dushant to realise his ambitions. As success catches up with Dushant, a rift is created between Dushant and Jaya. Sujit and Nisha take undue advantage of this to get close to Dushant and create a misunderstanding between him and Jaya. Kamlesh Dhingra (Avtaar Gill), who is Nisha's father approaches Dushant for financing of his business venture but is turned down by Rajpal (Kiran Kumar) who is Dushant's mentor. Dhingra and Sujit plot to amass Dushant's wealth by luring Dushant to marry Nisha and getting rid of Rajpal. Dushant comes to know of this plot. Suddenly Sujit is murdered. Rahul (Amit Kumar) who is a police officer comes in to the picture to investigate the murder. Nisha is also murdered under mysterious circumstances and the climax builds up. Another murder takes place, that of Dhingra. Who is the murderer? What is his motive? Is Dushant avenging his betrayal? Do Dushant and Jaya get back together?

It's a 'first film' for almost everyone involved, with the exception of Shahrukh Khan and Raveena Tandon. It is R.G. Nayyar's first as a producer/filmographer, Birendra Nath Tiwari's as director, and newcomers Amit Kumar and Divya Desai's first appearance as actor and actress, as the film's other romantic couple. Some little known facts about the film's history: First of all, its beginnings didn't start in the 21st century. Production started in 1994, yet it was shelved after 10-12 reels were already finished, due to unnamed problems, which arose. The original title of the film was 'Jaadu'. Thinking it was going to survive and reach the silver screen, its soundtrack was launched on April 10th of that same year. The music showcased a song, sung by S.P. Balasubramaniam, titled 'Jabse Mili Nazar'. But you won't find this melodious tune on the present soundtrack unfortunately. Although I have to say, the current eight-song soundtrack is wonderful. Everyone who worked on the music/lyrics should be praised for all their hard work as well. Bringing it all forward, it calculates to a decade in the making, so to speak. But finally Nayyar's dream has come to fruition. So what is the storyline behind this old, yet new celluloid innovation? As one might expect in a Bollywood drama/love story/action film, the main leads, Dusant (Shahrukh) and Jaya (Raveena), along with Sujit (Mohnish Behl) and Nisha (Navneet Nishan) are childhood friends.
