The verse from 'Lavan' of Gurbani ( recited while 1st round by Sikh couple around Guru Granth Sahib ) and its meaning is as follows--- "HARI PAHILADI LAW PARVARTI KARAM DRIDHAIYA BALI RAM JIO. BANI BRAHMA VEDU DHARAM DRIDHAU PAAP TAJAIYA BALI RAM JIU" It means " O God ! I dedicate myself to you.First of all, You have established me in the PRAVRITY KARMA(duties as per one's nature ,also known as Swadherm in Gita). O god! Strengthen the'VEDA DHARMA' the 'WORDS of GOD' that removes sin" Some people changed the meaning of the verse as "Strengthen Bani & Dharma instead of Brahma and Veda that removes sin". We as speaker of north Indian Hindi/Punjabi type language,can well understand easily the meaning of the above verse. it is so simple- "BANI BRAHMA VEDU DHARAM DRIDHAU PAAP TAJAIYA BALI RAM JIU" Here BANI BRAHMA( Word of Brahma) VEDU DHARAM(Veda dharma)DRIDHAU(strengthen) means "Strengthen Ved Dharma , the word of Brahma". The meaning is as simple as meaning of "BRING RED ROSE". If some one says that "BRING RED ROSE" means " Bring not red but rose" or " Bring rose but not red". What will you say about him?
