Personally, I don't fully understand why Sony chose to reboot the series. With the exception of Spider-Man 3, I thought Raimi did an amazing job with the series. Spider-Man 2 was by far my favorite and my second favorite Marvel movie of all time, right behind X-Men: First Class. My only problem with Spider-Man 3 was I felt it was rushed. It would have been a better story with just Sandman or Venom. Not both. And Harry becoming the Goblin should have been left out entirely. Save that for another movie. While I praise Thomas Haden Church for his role as Flint Marko/Sandman. Topher Grace was a horrible choice for Eddie Brock/Venom. Eddie Brock should have been played by a much muscular actor, like Vin Diesel. And Sam Raimi's version of Venom was just as horrible. Venom was toned down way too much. This is the villain that succeeds in killing Peter Parker and us getting the new Spider-Man, Ben Reilly. Venom was very demented and always talking about tearing out Peter's spine and eating him. Where was the shiny oil like finish to Venom? The dripping saliva and long tongue? I'd have loved a fourth Sam Raimi film. The best choice of villain would have been Mysterio. He could have been played by Bruce Campbell. Seeing as he had a cameo in every Spider-Man film. He was the Ring Announcer in SM1, the Theater Usher in SM2, and the Restaraunt Host in SM3. Those could have been covers for his character. As far as Mark Webb's remake is concerned. I'm liking what I'm seeing. I love that he chose to go with Gwen Stacy over Mary Jane. Gwen was Peter's first girlfriend. I just hope they keep her alive in this film and maybe in the next one or the one after that have the Green Goblin toss her over the Brooklyn Bridge to her death. Emma Stone is hot as hell as her natural blonde self. I hope when they introduce her. We get a better actress then Kirsten Dunst. She was good, but she just didn't give me the MJ vibe. She didn't have the charm or attitude. We'll see.

The Flying Monkeys of Oz are hideous beasts of terror. No wonder that Sam Raimi has found space for them in his Wizard prequel, Oz The Great and Powerful . Our first looked at one of these winged nightmares has been posted to Facebook by an extra on the film - at least according to Perez Hilton who isn't linking his source and has watermarked the image. Tsk. I don't know why Walter Sobchak has bothered blurring his face out. He's not fooling anybody. Oz: The Great and Powerful is due next year, and stars James Franco in the title role. As has been much discussed, it will feature sequences in sepia; as has been less discussed, those sequences will be in something like Academy ratio. The film's screenplay is by David Lindsay-Abaire and the cast also includes Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis and Michelle Williams as witches of varying degrees of wickedness. Yesterday it was revealed that Shiloh Fernandez has been cast as the male lead in  Fede Alvarez's  remake of   Sam Raimi's   Evil Dead . Today its reported that actress Jane Levy has landed the lead female role in the upcoming remake. The actress replaces Lily Collins , who had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Deadline report that Levy will play Mia , a character that correspond to Ash  [ Bruce Campbell in the original]. Mia is one of five friends holed up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead. A demonic force is unleashed possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival. Alvarez scripted the remake with screenwriter Rodo Sayagues. Diablo Cody came in & revised drafts. Original producing partners Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell & original director Sam Raimi will produce. Ghost House Pictures partners Joe Drake & Nathan Kahane will executive produce. The movie will begin production soon in New Zealand & will hit theaters April 12th 2013. ...
