"I would pass by a cliff, and want to jump off it like Amitabh Bachchan in Bollywood movies". Thus speaks Adeel, the musical heart throb from Pakistan, all set to hit the musical scene. And jumped off the cliff he has -- from the comforts of a successful career in modeling, he has answered the divine call within to be a musician and has plunged into Muse to give the world a new voice. "I always wanted to be musician -- I simply had no other dream", says the stunningly handsome, charming 23 year old heart-stopper from Pakistan, who is all set to see his debut album 'Koi Chehra' being released internationally by Tips Industries on 20th November. Life has handed Adeel many options and avenues. Born into a highly educated and cultured family in Pakistan on 15 June 1984, his eldest brother is a doctor and his middle brother graduated from a leading Canadian university. "My father was very clear that education came first, and I was good in studies. God was kind to ensure that when, at the age of 8 I excelled in my school exams, Dad presented me a small keyboard, and there began my formal journey into a passionate relationship with music. I was soon a star in school, performing for all school shows. By the time I reached college, I had formed a band called 'Rooh' in Islamabad and we were committed and successful performers, not allowing music to come in the way of studies however." On completion of his board exams, Adeel's father was very clear that he would become a doctor. Adeel's protests and entreaties that he wanted to take up music fell on deaf ears and soon the young handsome lad found himself studying dentistry at the prestigious King Edwards Medical College. Fate however had willed otherwise for this child of destiny. Into his first year, his face was spotted by none less than the mighty Pepsi International. Climbing on to heap of contenders, he came out on top and was selected to be the Pepsi Brand Ambassador for Pakistan in 2003! The turning point brought him for the shooting of the advertisement to the city of his dreams -- Bollywood!! "As a youngster I was completely besotted by Bollywood films. That was my destination -- the ultimate Eastern citadel of the Dream Merchants. And the ad film was directed by none less than Prahlad Kakkar." Adeel continued with Pepsi as their Brand Ambassador but did not let the allure of a modeling career deviate his mind from music. He refused lucrative offers, sticking only to Pepsi and in 2004 started working on his debut album, now to be released worldwide by Tips. Adeel believes in Sufism and romance. Musically he believes in all world styles, is a devotee of the music of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, A.R.Rahman and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Singers Sonu Nigam and Enrique are his idols. Apparently, the similarity ends there. At the music launch of Hey Baby, the cast and crew seemed to clear out quite a lot of doubts. The lead heroine, Vidya Balan, looking dainty in a chocolate brown outfit, seemed mighty pleased with the film. She also denied the allegations fo any similarity to the Hollywodo flick. She said, "Just because there are three guys and a baby, people might believe that there is a resemblance to some movie. But I really feel that you should just treat Hey Baby as a fresh film with lots to offer." Ritesh Deshmukh, also seemed to second her as he said, "Everything is different; scenes are different and so are the situations..." As for Akshay Kumar, he is all praises when ti comes to the originality of director Sajid Khan. According to Akshay, "Sajid need not copy comic scenes from anybody as he's been doing this since years."

Irrfan Khan was in New York to attend the premiere of A Mighty Heart, a film based on life of American journalist Daniel Pearl starring Angelina Jolie. When asked about his experience at the 'Mighty' premiere, he said, Fortunately for me, Namesake is also running in America and has received tremendous response from the viewers as well as critics. It is rare that two films of an artist are running at the same time and the performances in both the films are receiving rave reviews. Irrfan is very excited about the response he is getting from the critics. Some of the noted critics have commented that the performances are very diverse yet powerful and the characters in Namesake and A Mighty Heart merge seamlessly into the storyline. This was an emotional moment for me., A Mighty Heart has moved the audiences. The subject of the film is very interesting and it has garnered huge interests due to the diverse star cast. Two months after the release of Irrfan Khan's latest international film Darjeeling Limited which was shot in India, the verdict is out. In a brief role, the fast-rising Indian actor has beaten his well-known co-stars namely Owen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman and Adrien Brody who play brothers. While the reviews have largely panned the film and performances, Irrfan has been singled out for praise. Says the London Times reviewer, "There's only one performance that rings true in this shambolic odyssey. It's incidental and it's played by….Irrfan Khan." But the downsized part could be a downer for the actor's fans. The international audience which warmed up to Irrfan's scintillating performance in Mira Nair's The Namesake and Michael Winterbottom's A Mighty Heart, are disappointed by the length of Irrfan's role in his new international film, the British director Wes Anderson's just released comedy Darjeeling Limited on brotherly bonding. Believe it or faint, but Irrfan who now wants to do only centralized characters, has a walk-on part .How come? Irrfan currently shooting dangerous stunts for Neeraj Pandey's Black Or White, is unfazed. "Yes, the role in Darjeeling Limited is small. But it's a very decisive moment in the script and the critics have loved my work." (Foreword: this piece has turned out to be Mighty list-y, but I'm not sure I really mind, because the movie is so uncomplicatedly lovely that maybe there's not that much that needs to be said about it.) It's a bit like Chak De India , isn't it: full of heart-string-tugging tropes, of stories we've heard before, of very effective youngsters and (relatively) subtle, inspiring Khan-jis? As I said about the former, there's nothing wrong with using those raw ingredients if you do something unique, meaningful, and/or entertaining with them, and Taare Zameen Par made the different-is-beautiful, inspiring-teacher tales work really well. The cast is excellent, most notably Darsheel Safary, of course; as is the inherent danger with stories about small children facing big challenges, if he hadn't had such a careful touch, the movie would have been a trite, mawkish mess. Aamir too deserves credit for getting such a performance out of the story's little star - as well as for acting with him so effectively. I found all the characters to be written interestingly and performed with heart, especially Ishaan's family and especially especially his relationship with his older brother. The animation, unlike anything I've seen in an Indian movie so far, is charming and evocative and perfectly integrated to show us Ishaan's mind and ways of communicating.
