"Ram Aur Shyam" is a 1967 Indian Hindi feature film, directed by Tapi Chanakya. Its producer B. Nagi Reddy previously produced Ramudu Bheemudu, a Telugu film starring N.T. Rama Rao, in 1964; Ram Aur Shyam is Nagi Reddi's Hindi version. "Caravan" is a 1971 movie under Nasir Hussain films banner. Nasir Hussain and Sachin Bhowmick wrote the screenplay. Hussain's brother Tahir Hussain is credited as producer. It starred Jeetendra and the Nasir Husain fixture- Asha Parekh. It also had Aruna Irani , Helen and Madan Puri. Two more Husain fixtures were involved in the songs: lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri and music composer R.D. Burman The story is thriller about a young woman played by Asha Parekh who ends up married to the wrong man (Ravindra Kapoor). Thinking that he has conspired with his girlfriend (Helen) to murder her, she runs away to find an old friend of her father's in Bangalore who may be able to help. Having no money, the only way she can get there is to join a traveling caravan. The crew of the caravan is the hero Jeetendra as Mohan, Mohan's sidekick Johnny (Kishan Mehta), and Mohan's younger brother Monto (Mehmood's real younger brother Mehmood Jr). Along the way, the caravan crosses paths with a group of gypsies that includes Madan Puri, Manorama, Aruna Irani, and another of Mehmood's brothers Anwar Ali in a comic relief role. For, besides heavy patrolling activities, rumormongering also tends to trigger panic among people. Monday afternoon was no different. Within seconds of a red alert being declared, fear and uncertainty only got more pronounced. Policemen intensified patrolling and bandobast duties and began checking vehicles, leaving several people stranded. Meanwhile, rumours that explosives were transported into the state by road were rife. News that explosives had even been detected in Calangute did the rounds. However, these were found to be false. In fact, a few hours later, the red alert was lifted and the whole exercise was termed ?a drill to ensure that the police are alert?. Explaining the need for such drills, IGP Kishan Kumar said, ?It?s not just the police, but even people who have to remain vigilant. Public involvement is necessary to fight any sort of terror. This will be a regular practice to ensure that we don?t lower our guard.?
