Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan?s performance in The Last Lear has won him immense acclaim in India and internationally. It is being described as his best performances ever. But Amitabh Bachchan doesn?t agree. Bachchan says that his best is yet to be seen. "It would be a terrible day for an artiste if people classify his contribution as his best. That would be the end of his work. There is always an opportunity to work better and the best is yet to come," Amitabh said. He added: "I am a simple actor. As long as I am offered challenging roles, I would like to take them and experiment with acting always." And while the world can?t get enough of the Big B?s superb performance, the film?s director Rituparno Ghosh, who has for the first time directed Amitabh Bachchan, says he has always been a big fan of Bachchan?s wife Jaya and that working with Amitabh will not change that. "I have grown up with Jaya di?s films. I used to be a major Jaya Bachchan fan and I am a major admirer of her acting prowess. After working with Amit da, I can say that he gives a lot of warmth and works with immense sincerity. Big B, Amitabh Bachchan in his blog has apologized for the casual remarks stated by Jaya Bachchan R but at the same time has clarified that his family has made immense contributions to the Marathi culture and the good of Maharashtra, not just through his films but through other means as well. Read excerpts from his blog I am by nature an individual that invariably, when confronted, addresses an issue by looking at the other person?s point of view first. This is my character. I was born with it and shall remain with it. I cannot change it now. Many friends and family look upon it as a malaise, which is defensive, wrong and incorrect. But, much to their dismay I have remained unchanged. My first reaction therefore is, that in this matter, sentiments have been hurt. I am not going into what has been said and under what circumstances. But rather that, even if one person is disturbed, then I would wish that that disturbance be addressed first. All else can come later. Raj Thackeray has warned that no Amitabh Bachchan movie would be allowed to screen in Maharashtra until Bachchan seeks apology from the people of Maharashtra. The enfant terrible of linguistic fascism, even threatened to issue a boycott call to products in which Amitabh and his family, appears for endorsement. Clearly, Raj, has stolen a march over Bal Thackeray, in terms of craziness. The threat comes in wake of the Jaya's remark made in a lighter vein. Speaking from the stage at a function, she said that she will speak in Hindi as her family belonged to Uttar Pradesh. 'Maharashtra wale maaf karen, ham UP wale hain Hindi mein bolenge' , she stated. Now this remark was played up by TV channels who sought the reaction of Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray, who had a personal axe to grind with Jaya. She had in the past said that she knows no other Thackeray except Bal Thakre . Stung by the remark then, Raj seems to have got an opportunity now to hit back. He gave a threat, 'Who has the guts to screen the films of Amitabh Bachchan in Mumbai, unless Jaya seeks an apology for her statement'. MNS leaders also said that the couple should go back to Allahabad if they are to speak Hindi. This is not only anti-national speech but goes back against the core values of Indianness.
